des moines, iowa  the case of a homeless sex offender accused of molesting a toddler at a des moines library is fueling a push for internet filters intended to block pornographic web sites at libraries.

[the toddler molester/registered sex offender] was arrested last month.  officials say he told police he used library computers to view pornography many times.  but even if it's true, he didn't violate any laws or break library rules.

[mr. plan2succeed] is with a new jersey-based group called plan 2 succeed, which seeks to filter library computers.  he says it's a "sad thing."

his group's position is opposed by some librarian groups, including the iowa library association, which supports open access to legal information.

association president katherine martin says that includes legal pornography -- most pornography is legal, but sexually oriented material depicting minors is illegal.
